I would echo many of the responses I have read from colleagues and add one general thought.
We need to keep in mind, as one of our educational goals, the need to foster an understanding of cultural, artistic, and societal diversities in our teaching and relating to students at all grade levels. We do this already, to varied degrees in the classroom and through many community events. Do we do enough? Surely we can do more in an effort to prepare our students to help create the kind of interactive, global community that these readings so carefully outline and suggest.
